Hingham, massachusetts

In response to a statewide commitment to increasing affordable housing, the Town of Hingham found a perfect opportunity on a site they owned within close proximity to a new commuter rail station. A large clearing surrounded by forest inspired the design of a ‘community’ of cottages. Each grouping of homes defines a common open space. Public and private thresholds are defined by porches, common walkways and landscape. The project was completed in 2013 and is within walking distance to public schools and is physically contiguous with local parks and regional trail systems.
