Caribbean Coast

Coyle & Caron was selected by Zoo New England to lead a multi-disciplinary team to design an arrival habitat sequence including several species from Central and South America.

Caribbean Coast includes a year-round, 6,400 square foot walk-through aviary for flighted birds, including American Flamingos, Scarlet Ibis, and Macaws, and Jamaican Iguanas. A saltwater life support system is calibrated to provide brackish water that mimics the salinity of the flock’s natural habitat.

Work was reviewed and coordinated with The AZA’s Species Survival Program (SSP) standards to ensure that that conditions support the overall well-being and breeding success of each animal.
