First Cliff Residence
Perched on the northernmost of Scituate’s four cliffs, with expansive views of the harbor and lighthouse are two parcels that comprise a small family compound. Over several years Coyle & Caron designed and oversaw the implementation of a series of gardens including a contemplative and vegetable garden. Stone walls are used to terrace the hillside creating semi-private gardens for each of the homes while maintaining long views. Each garden is rich with plant species and varieties to satisfy the homeowner’s desire for a renewed spirit through gardening. Working with local architect Sally Weston, Coyle & Caron helped to integrate several building additions and reconfigurations to maximize joint use of the properties while maintaining legal boundaries in the event of future transfer.
