The Team Member Garden at Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) transforms a former building site into a lush, immersive garden at the center of the campus. Undertaken during the pandemic, we inspired the Client to seize the opportunity to create a needed outdoor place of respite for their healthcare teams and hospital visitors. A series of garden spaces with a variety of seating and sun/shade throughout the day allow for individual or small group gathering as well as outdoor dining. Work included creating a detailed maintenance plan and post construction monitoring to train staff in appropriate horticultural practices to ensure that the garden’s layered planting and rich biodiversity are sustained.
