valley pasture FARM
Valley Pasture Farm is a historic landmark on Boston’s South Shore. The current owner assembled the original plat along with thirty acres of adjacent wetland. Coyle & Caron began work on the site with a series of planting improvements around the original farmhouse. Overgrown plants were removed and replaced with a more austere approach emphasizing the farmhouse and its connection to the surrounding expansive landscape. A new perennial garden was designed to create a place that tied together an old apple tree and the original stone well. A second phase of work focused on land planning for the entire site resulting in a fifteen-acre area subdivided for three single family homes and 15 acres put into Town conservation lands. As part of the subdivision planning a new common driveway was nestled into the slope and a 3 acre former pasture was restored to wet meadow to create a larger buffer to the bordering vegetated wetland.
