Leesburg Animal Park

Leesburg, Virginia

This family-owned Animal Park realized immediate success when they relocated to a twenty-acre dairy farm in a growing suburb of Washington DC. Following completion of their first major project, a large visitor services facility, Coyle & Caron was hired to guide the development of a vision for the overall park. A master plan completed in 2017 includes ‘Zoo Central,’ a new entry and arrival sequence; a large, tree-lined gathering lawn provides opportunities close to the entry for special events while the surrounding path begins a new path for visitor circulation throughout the park. Future areas are organized as ‘trails’ by ecologies including: Forest, Marsh, and Grasslands. Several new species will be phased in in accordance with conservation planning including: giraffe, meerkat, wallaby, anteater, flamingo and tapir.
